Poem on Life
If life were the breaths we were taking and nothing else but that
its emptiness would be felt as soon as a breath was let out
and there was no one around to feel the warmth
Life is the sequence of events
that start to happen to us as we step foot into the world
Life is the sequence of events that we decide not to take
when we start to learn the difference between right and wrong
Life is when we feel someone else’s pain
and also feel joy when we see others fly
Life is seeing the colors of the rainbow
even if your life has been dealt to you in black and white
Life is hearing the cries of the ants on the ground
and not being bothered by the roar of the king of the land
Life is not just pursuit of happiness but lifting a finger in order to make justice prevail
Life is the closed eyes that one is able to open by releasing one’s abuse
just in order to stop someone else you may never even meet learn from your pain
Life is seeing an empty wheelchair and actually sitting in it for a while
just to be more thankful for the feet you have
and the legs that helped you walk out of the wheelchair
Life is holding your breath when you want to shout
and also in crying when you hear a mother sob as her child is lost
Lost in Life
Remember Life is knowing that we are all here and we are all connected
If you are able to touch a lost heart you know that you have found LIFE
